Beautiful, authentic Mid Century dress!
I am 5'5 and measure 38-30-38. I ordered this dress in red, Size 10. I absolutely love it! I would say that the bodice is not as close fitting as I would like, but I think a Size 8 would be too small. Also, I agree with other reviewers who commented on the short waist. I wear my belts at my true waist, which is a couple inches lower than the waist line of this dress. I think I am a bit lower waisted than the average woman, however. I would have ordered this dress in the other color, except for this sizing problem.

Floated out of the box
I had hoped this dress would meet my anticipations. Described as soft cord and sunset color along with the 1940's style seemed more than I could hope for. I love this dress which is the perfect combination of style and design. That it exceeded my hopes is a vast understatement.

Fantastic-in all ways.
Just received this dress. I absolutely love it. (For reference I am 5'3 tall-weigh 134 and got a size 12). It fits like it was made for me-and the material is absolutely wonderful. Super soft, to the touch and drapes beautifully. I waited a while to purchase this dress due to fact there were no reviews-and I was unsure of the size to get. So glad I finally followed my heart-ignored my budget-and got it. It is a truly worth the price.

Cute Retro-Style Dress
Received the dress yesterday. Beautifully packaged, including the hanger! Tried the dress on immediately, it fit like a glove. Got the purple, which is a beautiful color but in my opinion, it is quite lighter in person than what is shown in the pictures - the pictures make the dress look very deep dark purple, which it is not. The dress is more of a grape color, not dark purple. Also the material is a very fine cotton corduroy, and it looks like suede. Ordered size 10 (Bust 37, waist 32) but I called customer service and got the measurements for the dress before ordering. The top is fitted, just like the plaid 1947 dress and is suitable for those who are short in the waist like me. If you have a long torso, this may not fit you well. Lengthwise, the dress hits at mid calf, and I am 5'4. You can do a lot with this dress - boots, ankle strap wedges, pumps, etc, not to mention jewelry and scarves. That's why I like it so much. Will probably order the sunset color

Perfect dress
Soft fabric, classic lines, elegant appearance, beautiful pure blue (prettier than on-line color). Perfect fit for me in size 6. Im 5'7 and its hard to find this ideal skirt length. Please have more of these in true colors or a tiny print.

Such great style.
I purchased this dress in blue, and I just happened to have a pair of pumps and handbag in the same color. I decided to wear this to a wedding on yesterday in the late afternoon. It has such great style. It was the perfect outfit for the occasion. Whoever would have ever thought that a cord dress could be so feminine. J Peterman style has never failed me yet.

The 1940s dress is gorgeous in any color or material.
this cord dress is true to size. It is just as comfortable and flattering as the other 1940s dresses here at JPeterman. I love the length. Recommended.

Love it!
I love all the versions of the 1940s dress! In winter I often wear the red version of this one, sometimes with a turtleneck. Its a bit long in the waist for me, but shortening is easy. I wish there was one more button at the bottom of skirt. These are small problems, though. Its a wonderful dress!
